From our Peach State Chapter President

The metro Atlanta area is vibrant and exciting. We are fortunate to live in a city with great weather, a multitude of leisure activities and significant professional opportunities. As friends and graduates of West Virginia University , we also share our love for our university and fond memories of WVU and Morgantown .

If you are not currently a member of the WVU Alumni Association, then I encourage you to join the national association. Additionally, we have an active chapter here in metro Atlanta that offers numerous events throughout the year allowing Mountaineer grads and friends to share in our unique camaraderie.

Our activities range from happy hour gatherings and game watching events at Laseter’s Tavern in Vinings – which attracted more than 200 Mountaineer fans on several occasions last season – to our annual golf outing and summer family picnic. We have many other events planned in the coming year, but we are always open to initiate new activities based on your ideas and interests.

I encourage your active participation and appreciate your thoughts on how to continually make our club bigger and better. If you know of other WVU graduates or fans, please tell them about the Peach State Chapter. In return, please also let us know about them, so we can add them to our e-mail list.

The most important undertaking of the WVU Peach State Chapter is our scholarship fund which was created in 2003 and is subsidized in part by our golf outing and our chapter dues. Once it is fully endowed, the fund will provide an annual scholarship for one Georgia high school senior entering WVU. That fund is established at the WVU Foundation. It carries the same academic and tax benefits as any other Foundation contribution that does not carry a specific beneficiary.

I look forward to seeing you at one or more of our events in the near future. Be sure to check our web site at www.wvupeach.com .

Let’s Go Mountaineers!
